Grant Description: AmeriCorps members assist with recruiting volunteers and increasing services to clients at community based organizations in Northern New England.

Project Description: Campus Compact for NH has partnered with community-based nonprofit agencies to host full-time AmeriCorps members. The NH Recovery Corps program seeks to meet the following objectives: 1. To engage 20 AmeriCorps members in direct community service that meets locally identified community needs. 2. To engage 20 AmeriCorps members in recruiting and managing volunteers that will provide services to 20 community based organizations related to nonprofit capacity building that increase the number of clients served. As a result of the project there will be an additional 800 clients served at the agencies than in previous years and 5,000 volunteers will be recruited to work with 15,000 clients at the community based organizations. Examples of activities include: home weatherization and repair, employment services, programming for children during out of school time, community gardens, food bank distribution, ESL tutoring and services for the elderly.

Job Creation: Due to Recovery funding we created/retained 0 employee FTE’s and 18 AmeriCorps Member Service Years (MSY’s). While AmeriCorps members are not considered employees, they are providing the services described in the project section.
